Boonton

Just a short drive from Morristown is Boonton, a small historic town founded in 1829. Do some window-shopping down Main Street and see some of the historic buildings that now house fantastic shops and restaurants. Also on Main Street is the Boonton Historical Society and Museum, where visitors can explore an extensive collection of historical artifacts. The museum is in the John Taylor building, built in 1897 as a residence and office for Dr. John Taylor and his family.

Boonton is also home to 2 beautiful parks that are worth a visit. Grace Lord Park is a small park located right off Main Street. Here you can take a relaxing stroll along the river and discover the ruins of the old ironworks factory. A little farther north along the Rockaway River is Griffith Park. There is another smaller waterfall here as well as a few spots to drop a line in the water and catch some fish.

Chester Township

This town is packed with farms, cider mills, and many historical landmarks to explore. Visit Alstede Farms to pick your own fruits and vegetables, shop in their farm store, and get lost in their corn maze. Travelers can also visit one of the many mills in town. Cooper Gristmill is a working historic gristmill that offers guided tours. Or tour Ralston Cider Mill and try some fresh cider made just like it was 100 years ago.
