Powertrain and Performance

There are two engine options available for the Mini four-door. The entry-level Cooper has a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that can produce up to 136hp and 162lb-ft of torque, while the higher-end Cooper S gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4. Available for both trims is a choice of a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual. Both transmissions power the front wheels. It’s fast too; models with the more powerful engine can make 0-60 in just 6.5 seconds.

The Mini boasts excellent fuel economy across the board: with an automatic transmission both the Cooper and the Cooper S can boast an EPA rating of up to 38mpg on the highway and 28mpg in the city. The figures for the manual transmissions are also impressive, with combined mpg ratings of 31 and 27 respectively.

Interior and Cargo Space

The Mini manages to cram lots of space for both cargo and passengers into its trademark small frame, with enough legroom for adults to sit in the rear seats comfortably. Folding down the rear seats gives even more space for cargo. The interior décor is comfortable, with a leather-wrapped steering wheel as standard, and comfortable seating with plenty of storage space in the doors and center console.

Technology

The Mini now has a standard 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, which sits in a unique rounded center console. Available Apple CarPlay can connect your devices with ease, and in-dash navigation, the Sirius XM satellite radio system and wireless phone charging are all also available as optional extras.
