The 2022 Mini Countryman comes in six trims: Cooper, Cooper ALL4, Cooper S, Cooper S ALL4, John Cooper Works ALL4, and the plug-in hybrid Cooper SE All4. You'll recognize the iconic Mini styling with the Countryman, though with contemporary touches.

The nose of this SUV is longer than its smaller cousins, and instead of round headlights, the Countryman comes with rectangular-shaped lights. You'll notice that the front grille has a smaller, almost oval shape to it, and the dropped fascia has integrated foglights. Sleek lines draw the eye to the rear hatch of the Mini Countryman, and the roof rails add a sporty look.

Engine

The two lower trims of the 2022 Mini Countryman have a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 189 horsepower and 206 pound-feet of torque come with the Cooper S and Cooper S ALL4. Move up to the John Cooper Works ALL4 to get the same 2.0-liter engine but with an output of 301 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. The plug-in hybrid pairs the 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor. This combination produces 221 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque.

When you have the front-wheel-drive version of the Mini Countryman, the engines pair with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Choose the all-wheel-drive version, and you'll get an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Performance

Both the front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive trims have a suspension system made up of front struts and a multilink system for the rear. Choose the John Cooper Works trim to get an electronically locking differential, Brembo brakes, and a suspension system with adaptive dampers.

Interior

This roomy SUV has two rows of seats that can fit up to five people with plenty of headroom and legroom for everyone. As soon as you step inside any of the 2022 Mini Countryman's trims, you'll notice the well-appointed features.
