Trim Levels

The 2022 Mini Convertible comes in three trims: the Cooper, the Cooper S, and the exhilarating John Cooper Works. You'll have a smile on your face when you see how cute the Mini Convertible is. This compact little two-door car has a distinct front end with big round headlights and a sporty-looking chrome grille. You'll notice how the body-colored panel incorporates into the grille for a seamless appearance.

It's a breeze opening and closing the electric-power soft top of this convertible — it only takes 18 seconds. Or you can keep the top closed and opt for the available sunroof that lets in just enough light and air over the front two seats of the Mini Convertible. Express your fun personality with an exterior color such as Zesty Yellow or Island Blue Metallic.

Engine

This powerful little car has three engine options. Under the hood of the Cooper, you get a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine producing 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Move up to the Cooper S, and the car comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 189 horsepower and 206 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with the standard six-speed transmission, or you can opt for the available seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Under the hood of the top-tier John Cooper Works, you'll find the same 2.0-liter engine, but the horsepower increases to 228, and the torque rating climbs to 235 pound-feet. An eight-speed automatic transmission completes the powertrain of the John Cooper Works trim.

Performance

Front-wheel drive comes standard across the 2022 Mini Convertible lineup, and you'll notice the nimble handling on all models. When you choose the John Cooper Works trim, you can get the available Nitron suspension system with adjustable front and back dampers, giving this trim the feel of a high-performance sports car. This particular trim also lets you go from zero to 60 mph in 6. 3 seconds.

Interior

With two rows of seats, four adults ride comfortably inside the 2022 Mini Convertible. Imitation leather upholstery comes standard for all three trims, and the two upper Mini Convertible trims get performance sports seats. Subtrims and add-on packages give you features such as heated front seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leather upholstery.
